Wednesday is always speed work and interval training. Improving speed and racing performance happens long before I lace up my shoes on race day. It starts in my mind and is proven the moment I set foot on the track or at the starting line. My brain and body must work together to create a synergistic effort that propels me forward to reach times and distances that I once thought was impossible. The emotions of the last few days fueled today’s workout and kept me pushing long after my body wanted to stop. Learning to endure life challenges with grace, faith and humility is much harder than any mile I’ve ever run on a track or in a race. Experience can be a harsh task-master but resilience brings perspective and and eventually peace.
